PUFFY'S WORLD TOUR

    We got to meet Puffy and his saviour Martha one day in a place unknown.  Since then Puff has been living with us, the Sunflower seeds are fresh.

    Puffy is totally blind in both eyes from unknown reasons.  He was rescued by Martha and the MN Gang and ended up at the Petticoat Creek Hamster House.

    Even though Puffy is blind, he gets around his cage really well, plays in a Tub / Playground and even on a table.  Of course, affectionate rubs are always appreciated.

    Puffy decided to go and visit the general areas of the world that he and his other "Phodopus" cousins historically came from.  Puffy is a Dwarf Hamster (Phodopus campbelli) and comes from the Asian continent, from the steppes along the mountain ranges from Europe to Korea. 

    Areas like the Djungarian Basin (a region of China, in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region) are the native home of the Russian Campbell Dwarf.  The Russian Campbell Dwarf is the most common Dwarf sold in Eastern Canada.

    Puffy's tour took a long time, like all hammies, he did not take the most direct route, he went around the edges, exploring and eating goodies.  Going around the edges, or being blind, is not a problem for a mammal that digs burrows up to 1 meter deep in the wild and lives underground for a portion of it's day.

    Puffy's tour was not complete, he missed a few seeds hidden in certain countries, but he did get to visit most of the countries his relatives came from.
